INCIDENT REPORT

Incident reporting is a critical aspect of officiating at Texas high school and junior/middle school games and matches, applicable to all TASO Sports Divisions.

Why File an Incident Report?
Both the UIL and TAPPS require Incident Reports to be submitted to ensure proper monitoring of conduct among member schools, coaches, players, and spectators. Timely reporting is essential, as failure to do so undermines these efforts.

When Should an Incident Report Be Filed?
An Incident Report must be filed within 24 hours of the ejection of any coach or player during a contest. Additionally, reports should be submitted for other incidents, including:

  • Unruly spectator behavior

  • Unsafe playing conditions

  • Serious player injuries

As a general guideline, any occurrence that disrupts the normal flow of a game or match should be reported. It’s also advisable for the entire officiating crew to file a report if a coach is ejected.

How to File an Incident Report:

  1. Select the appropriate link based on the contest type:

    • Private School Contests

    • UIL Contests

  2. Complete the report as instructed on the linked page.

TASO receives copies of the reports for both UIL and TAPPS contests.

Private School Contests

For private school contests, Incident Reports can be filed for schools affiliated with organizations like TAPPS, Vanguard College Preparatory School, IDEA Public Schools, and others.

UIL Contests

For UIL contests, officials must submit reports related to member schools participating in the UIL system, which includes a wide range of public high schools across Texas.
